GTRI hosted the annual Hungry Hungry Hackers (H3) competition Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017. The competition is open to all college students and uses a Capture the Flag competitive track for students to compete for prizes and recognition. H3’s Capture the Flag competition includes web, forensics, crypto, binary, social engineering, Internet of Things, and other challenges. Players compete at the individual level (no teams) to gain points for every flag captured. There were 75 student participants from the states of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. Students from Central Florida, Georgia Tech, and Emory took the top three prizes. We were fortunate to receive sponsorship of this year’s event from The Home Depot, IBM Security, NCR Corp., and Norfolk Southern, and officials from each company were on hand to interact with the students and provide educational talks throughout the day.
